MS PTO Mini-Grant Application Form Dear Middle School Staff, The SMS PTO is pleased to once again award grants to support the curriculum and the learning environment of the Middle School. In previous years, this program has facilitated the purchase of items such as Social Studies Department Chromebooks, high interest novels, a sidewalk between school entrances, Scholastic subscriptions, and the Hornet mascot costume. We have yet to determine the total funding for distribution this year, as it is primarily dependent on the results of our Hassle Free Fundraiser. Please encourage everyone to participate in this fundraiser so it can be channeled back to our students through this mini-grant program. Please find the program guidelines and the mini-grant application below. MINI-GRANT PURPOSE AND CRITERIA • The purpose of this program is to support the Saline Middle School curriculum by providing additional resources to teachers and their classrooms. • Preference will be given to applications that demonstrate the greatest impact across the widest number of students. • The PTO strongly encourages coordination across departments and grade levels. You may be asked to explore coordination with colleagues who are teaching the same curriculum. • Grants will be evaluated on their merit and in relation to other funding resources available. • Items purchased through this program will remain property of the middle school, not the individual teacher awarded the grant. • Purchases made through this program should be made using the SAS tax-exempt I.D., as we do not reimburse for sales tax. • The PTO does not fund class parties. We may consider funding field trips, if the trip impact has the potential to be significant. • Teachers are encouraged to submit grants early, as they will be reviewed and approved in PTO Board meetings as they are received, according to the schedule below. Grant Reviews will continue until all allocated dollars have been distributed. MINI-GRANT PROCESS AND TIMELINE Please submit all applications by completing the Grant form below. Teachers will be contacted relative to the status of their application after the grant review date. At that time, grants may be approved, denied or more information may be requested. A budget must be included for a grant to be considered.
